Fifty years ago, Jack and Dolores started Cakebread Cellars with a little land and a lot of passion.

As we close in on a landmark anniversary, we’re amazed at how much has changed since 1973, and how much remains the same. When we made our first 157 cases of Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay, it happened with teamwork and focus – just like it does today. We’re grateful that 50 years later, we still get to do what we love, with the people we love, in the valley that we love.

No one imagined back in 1973 that the family wine project would grow into what it’s become. As we added more great vineyards and expanded our portfolio, our commitment to quality never wavered. And just as we’ve stayed true to our winemaking philosophy, we have continued to find better ways to make the very highest quality wines while conserving our natural resources and enhancing our land.

We’ve created a lot of memories on this journey – most of them fun, and some more challenging. Our family thanks you for all of them, and for joining us on this wild ride that’s exceeded all expectations. Here’s to the next 50 years!
