Subject to fog and cooling breezes from nearby San Pablo Bay, Carneros enjoys a long growing season that ripens its fruit fully while retaining the bright acidity that gives Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay its freshness and vitality. We complement our Carneros fruit with grapes from warmer sites in the valley that yield riper, fuller chardonnays. This allows us to craft a rich, yet elegant and complex chardonnay that drinks beautifully on release, but ages gracefully in the bottle.\n>>

Our flagship Napa Valley Chardonnay opens with aromas of ripe green and golden apple, accented by fresh white peach and light oak. Across the palate, this golden wine is silken in texture with flavors of apple, citrus and pear balanced by refreshing acidity. The long finish is clean, with underlying hints of minerality, vanilla and lemon. This is a versatile pairing wine we love it with grilled seafood and nearly any selection of cheeses.

Bright notes of raspberry and boysenberry give way to a deep black cherry mineral finish. This full-bodied pinot noir boasts elegant tannins and signature complexity from diverse clones and rootstocks.

The grapes for our 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux‐style blend of 83% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot, came from top vineyards throughout the valley’s finest cabernet sauvignon appellations, including 56% from our own estate vines. Securing fruit from multiple, diverse sites enables us to craft a rich, yet elegant cabernet marrying the lush black fruit and sturdy tannins typical of the valley’s warmer northern districts with the bright fruit and acidity characteristic of its cooler southern climes.

The grapes for our rich, yet elegant Cabernet Sauvignon come from areas of the Napa Valley known to produce some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons. There is no question that the character of this wine originates in the vineyard. Getting quality fruit from so many diverse microclimates allows us to craft a stylistically consistent and complex cabernet that marries the the lush black fruit and sturdy tannins typical of the valley’s warmer northern districts with the bright fruit and acidity characteristic of its cooler southern climes.

Our classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reveals aromas of ripe blackberry and boysenberry with hints of dark chocolate and sweet oak. On the palate, the dark fruit is balanced by fresh acidity and lush tannins that carry all the way over a lingering, elegant finish—with just a kiss of minerality. Enjoy this wine now, with everything from lamb burgers to filet mignon and fire-roasted portobello mushrooms—or lay the wine down and watch it continue to develop complexity in the bottle for years to come.

Our 2017 Vaca Red Blend, a combination of 90% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc and 3% Merlot, reveals bright aromas of blackberry and boysenberry, with just a touch of minerality, dried herbs and perfumed oak. The ripe dark fruit carries over onto a round, mouth-filling palate, joined by notes of cassis and supported by firmly structured tannins. Rich blackberry and sweet oak distinguish the long, succulent finish. This full, lush wine is ready to drink now, but will continue to develop in bottle over the next decade. Enjoy with grilled New York strip steak, roast leg of lamb, thick cut pork chops or Korean shortribs.

Our 2017 Vine Hill Ranch cabernet sauvignon is an intense, full-bodied wine with aromas of blackberry and boysenberry accented by notes of dark chocolate and stone. The deep, dark fruit extends over an opulent palate supported by a firm tannin structure, and then on into a dense, powerful finish. This wine is ready to enjoy now but will age very well for another decade in the bottle. We enjoy it with classic cabernet sauvignon pairings like lamb chops, short ribs or char-broiled steak.

The 2020 Benchland Select shows an opaque ruby hue in the glass, opening with jammy dark fruit notes of blueberry and plum. With time, notes of cigar box, dried oregano, and forest floor emerge. On the palate, this Cabernet segues from dark fruit notes to savory undertones, while showing off a silky texture. Full-bodied and dense in structure, the wine’s long finish is driven by firm tannins plus hints of cocoa and vanilla.
