2017 Apple Barn Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
We ferment the wine with native yeasts in small, open-top tanks; a portion ferments with the grapestems to add spice and structure. Aging in French oak barrels prepares the individual lots for final blending, after which the blended wine barrel-ages for additional months. The finished Anderson Valley Pinot Noir offers aromas and flavors of lush black cherry, raspberry and blackberry, fine-grained tannins, notes of spice, and a flinty vein of minerality.

Just north of the town of Booneville, on the gravelly banks of Anderson Creek, sits our Apple Barn Vineyard—a unique site where warm sun and the cool marine influence result in dramatic daily temperature swings of up to 45 degrees. This creates beautiful tension between concentrated fruit character and bright acidity in California pinot noir grapes.
