2021 Cuttings Wharf Vineyard Chardonnay

Carneros Napa Valley

Crafted with intention and a clear sense of place, this single vineyard Chardonnay reflects a balanced, thoughtful approach to winemaking. It’s polished but never formal—an easy, confident choice for gathering around the table or elevating the everyday with something quietly refined.

The 2021 Cuttings Wharf Chardonnay is a classically structured Carneros Chardonnay with perfumed floral aromas and scents of golden apple and peach. The wine is rounded and creamy with a symphony of fruit flavors dominated by Bosc pear and white peach, with accents of fresh vanilla and spiced apple tart. On the palate, notes of baking spices add complexity before the wine segues to a long finish defined by a fresh apple flavors and a burst of citrus minerality.

Farming for the Future

Our Cuttings Wharf vineyard lies in the Carneros appellation at the far southern end of Napa Valley. It’s proximity to San Pablo Bay means Pacific fog blankets the vineyard each morning with cool marine breezes continuing through the afternoons. This ensures slow, steady and even ripening of our delicate Chardonnay grapes. We cultivate a range of Chardonnay clones, renowned for their small berries which yield wines with intensely concentrated and rich flavors that beautifully express the local terroir. These clones produce wines with a dazzling range of flavors and aromas.
The 2021 vintage began with a dry winter, creating a second year of drought conditions. An even, mild spring and summer allowed the grapes to slowly ripen, producing a small, high-quality crop with exceptionally dense color and flavor concentration.
