About This Wine

We select the majority of Napa merlot grapes for this red wine from our hilly Suscol Springs Vineyard in the cool reaches of southeastern Napa Valley, and supplement the blend with grapes from our other estate ranches. The fruit is cold-soaked for full extraction of color, flavor and tannins before primary fermentation, and the wine ages in French oak barrels both before and after blending.

Now’s a good time to discover what made merlot such a hit in the first place, before the Sideways phenomenon knocked the wine, well, sideways. Our top-rated vintages stand tall with rich, round aromas and flavors of blackberry and black cherry, with mineral notes, hints of crushed stone, and balanced acidity that makes it my favorite lunchtime wine.
