One-dish cooking doesn’t get more festive than this. Paella is cooked outside and feeds a crowd—a party in a pan. But that’s the just one part of our Spanish-inspired feast. In addition to making a seafood paella and one with chicken, pork and linguica, we’ll make fideos—a fine vermicelli-like pasta that is toasted before being cooked with rich stock—with calamari and shrimp, luscious peaches grilled and wrapped in serrano ham, a refreshing watermelon gazpacho and a traditional tortilla Española, all of which you’ll enjoy with Cakebread wines as our paella cooks over an open fire. When the paella is ready, we’ll haul the pans to the Pecan Patio to enjoy with more Cakebread wine, then finish with a delicious honey-almond semifreddo for dessert.
All classes are participation style and include a tour of the property, a tasting of Cakebread Cellars wines, the cooking class and a three-course lunch paired with wine. All participants leave with a Cakebread Cellars logo apron, a booklet of the recipes and wine notes from the day, some great memories and quite often, new friends.
