With the stunning view of Napa Valley that our Dancing Bear Ranch offers, it would be a shame to spend a summer day in the kitchen. So we’re taking this class to our Howell Mountain vineyard property for an al fresco day of cooking and eating. We’ll fire up the grills and the woodburning oven, then the group will prepare a feast worthy of the setting and the wine that comes from it: wood-oven pizzas, huli-huli chicken wings, lemongrass swordfish brochettes, roasted asparagus with fonduto and maitake mushrooms, grilled flat-iron steak with jalapeño vinaigrette, a spring panzanella salad, and for dessert, balsamic ice cream with roasted strawberries and crunchy seed cookies. We’ll then sit down to enjoy the fruits of our labor with Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and other wines from the Cakebread cellar.
All classes are participation style and include a tour of the property, a tasting of Cakebread Cellars wines (except for the children’s classes), the cooking class and a three-course lunch paired with wine. All participants leave with a Cakebread Cellars logo apron, a booklet of the recipes and wine notes from the day, some great memories and quite often, new friends.
