In 2017, Cakebread Cellars is excited to host our 13th Annual Wine & Golf Days at one of the top rated golf resorts in the world, Sea Island Resort on the beautiful Sea Island in Georgia.
Located on the southeastern coast of Georgia and steeped in rich history, Sea Island Resort is the only resort in the world to receive the Forbes Five-Star awards for eight consecutive years. We will play golf on both Seaside and Plantation courses amongst the ocean vistas, marsh and forestland. Seaside, a links course, originally designed by famed architects, Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison in 1929 was remodeled by Tom Fazio in 1999 in the tradition of the Scottish links. Plantation, designed by Walter Travis in 1929 was renovated by Rees Jones and boasts expansive fairways and is described as a “parkland by the sea”.
While staying at The Lodge and The Cloister, we will be treated to impeccable southern hospitality of Sea Island, which boasts luxurious, opulent, and distinctive guest experiences and accommodations. Get some tips from the Pros of Sea Island Resort and enjoy some friendly competition at our Sip & Swing Reception on The Lodge Putting Green from 4:30pm–6:30pm. We will enjoy Cakebread Cellars wines paired with southern inspired appetizers.
Ocean vistas, in the tradition of St. Andrews, beckon us as we play on the Seaside Course, where we have an 8:30am shotgun start for the Cakebread Cellars Cup Tournament. Following our amazing day of golf, we will enjoy a coastal inspired buffet lunch with Cakebread Cellars wines on the historic Corn Barn lawn. After lunch, you will have time to enjoy five miles of private beach, indulge in a spa treatment or relax poolside before the Reception and Awards Dinner, hosted by Dennis Cakebread. We will have the pleasure of enjoying Cakebread Cellars wines paired with a locally sourced menu created by the resorts’ talented culinary team. During dinner, we will announce the winners of the Cakebread Cup and delight in the pleasure of good wine, good food, and relive our fantastic round of golf.
Enjoy beautiful views of the ocean, oaks and blooming flowers, while we play Plantation Course with an 8:30am shotgun start. The course unfolds among a forest of ancient live oaks and has magnificent Atlantic Ocean views for you to soak in for our final round.
