Carneros Napa Valley

June 29, 2001
James Laube's HOT Wines
Seems like everyone wants to get into the Syrah game, and
Cakebread Cellars in Napa Valley has successfully done so
with this bottling, only its second Syrah in 28 vintages.
The grapes come from the Carneros region, the part of the
Napa Valley bordering San Pablo Bay, where the dark, warm
soils and cooling breezes fare well for this grape. This is
a rich and distinctive wine, loaded with spicy, beefy black
cherry, mocha, herbal and leathery notes. Enjoy now through
2006.
Wine Spectator gave this wine a score of 90 points.
