Napa Valley

Medium to medium-dark ruby;
pleasant, floral, toasty, cedary, herbal, cherry fruit aroma
with a note of cassis; medium-full body; forward, plush, cedary,
ripe black cherry fruit flavors; medium-full tannin; lingering
aftertaste. Highly recommended.

Like many of its vintage, this lithe young Cabernet goes for polish rather than punch, and it scores an inviting success with its direct, oak-sweetened, lightly cherry-like aromas and flavors. It is firmed by a touch of tannin at the finish, and, if likely to improve for a few years yet, it can easilybe drunk in the near term while its heftier cousins from 1997 develop more slowly in the cellar. This cabernet scored one star with an 87 score.

Volume 4, Number 4
The 98 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley has a perfumed bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, cassis, violets, coffee, cinnamon and cedar. The flavors of cherries, berries, chocolate, green olive and spicy vanilla are very concentrated with good depth and complexity followed by a fruity expansive finish.
The Insiders Wine Line gave this Cabernet 92 points.

December 2001
Slim and attractive, this is a naked model of a cabernet, all bones, but lovely, round bones, plumping with air toward a rounder, voluptuou red nad black currant fruit. While it builds in richness, it holds to the elegance, the clean lines, the soft austerity. Decant a bottle now for roasted veal sausages, or put it away for a while and let the full roundness take hold.
