2000 Tasting Notes
The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley has a perfumed bouquet of jammy black cherry, cassis, red licorice, plum, minerals and underbrush spice. The flavors of cherries, berry, tea, mint and toasty vanilla with faint minty notes, are balanced with good depth followed by a fruity, expansive finish.
The Insiders Wine Line gave this wine a score of 92 points.

Everything about this big, chewy cabernet tastes expensive, especially the burled oak scents and flavors that introduce it and then last through the finish. The fruit is super-ripe, offering its meaty weight to the tannins, which are also considerable. A dense and showy cabernet for a steakhouse, or for a cigar after dinner.
Wine & Spirits gave this wine a score of 89.

Lush and forward, with complex sour-plum, espresso, cola, vanilla and fudge aromas. Round berry flavors, licorice, Asian spice and pepper accents mark the palate. Full, but not heavy, with a long, smooth plum and cocoa finish. This is a stylish and elegant black knight.
Wine Enthusiast gives this wine a score of 93 points.

Powerful, smokey, coffee aromas. Opulent, ripe, spicy rich fruit. Amazing intensity with lovely complexity and great length. Full and rich aromas of cherries, blackberries and tobacco. Great balance with super fruit, softish tannins.
Decanter gave this wine a score of 5 stars.

It's a big boy, but still balanced. Medium-full-bodied, moderately complex, dry, soft acid, strong oak impression, dark ruby color with black cherry, currant, licorice, plum, toast aromas and flavors of black currant, black pepper, blackberry, burnt toast, clove and plum. Assertive, balanced, clean, extracted, medium finish.
