Napa Valley

April 2004
Grown in Carneros (50 percent) and further north in the middle
of the Napa Valley, this is a dynamic chardonnay, a wine with
broad dimensions. It builds on a rich fruit flavor of cider apples,
layered with chamomile and wheat. there's a satisfying length
of flavor, seeming to incorporate the cool feel of a stone-walled
cellar with the warmth of the autumn sun. Delicious to drink now,
this should gain more complexity with age.
Wine & Spirits gave this wine a score of 92 points.

March 2004
Bright and buoyant and chock full of wonderfully well-defined
green-apple fruit, Cakebread's latest is framed with sympathetic
oak that lends a bit of richness without threatening to steal
the show. The wine is impeccably balanced with fine extension
and lightly juicy finish, and its invitingly open manner more
than compensates for what may be perceived in some quarters as
a slight lack of potency.
Connesseurs' Guide gave this wine a score of 90 points.
