The Cakebread family, owners of Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford, is among the most creative and successful winery families in California's famed Napa Valley. Membership in one of our Wine Clubs means that you are guaranteed to receive many of our limited release wines. We have three clubs to choose from, the Bakers Club, the Classic Red Wine Club, and the White Wine Club. Tours and Tastings

We're a family owned winery and each day we taste and tour throughout the winery so you can see how we make our wine. Once a day you can join an in depth educational tour which takes you into our cellars and through our vineyards, ending with a tasting of our wines. A wine and food pairing experience is available on Thursday and Friday.

Educational Tour and Tasting

10:30 a.m. daily. - $10.00 per Wine Club member, $25.00 per Non-Wine Club members
These take approximately 90 minutes.

Our educational tours are offered daily and offer an opportunity for you to learn about wine from the vine to your table.

Our professional staff will provide:
An introduction to Napa Valley viticulture while strolling through our 82-acre estate vineyard bordering the winery
A step by step look at the winemaking process through a tour of the winery
A guided but informal tasting of our Napa Valley wines, and an opportunity for all of your vineyard & winemaking questions to be answered.

Wine-Food Pairing Experience

The Cakebread Cellars staff invites you to participate in a new program created to enhance your ability to confidently match wines with food…we call it the "Wine-Food Pairing Experience!"

We begin with a 30-minute mini-tour of the winery then seat our guests for a 30-minute interactive wine food pairing. Our Resident Chefs create four fabulous recipes each season, using the freshest ingredients from our very own Cakebread garden. Guests are guided through four wine-food pairings, with a discussion relative to the components of the wine and food which create an Epicurean harmony. This understanding will allow you to fully appreciate and enjoy the characteristics of our wine.

When: 11:00 a.m., Thursday & Friday - by prior appointment
Size: Up to 12 people
Cost: $20.00 per Wine Club member, $40.00 for Non-Wine Club members.

Sensory Evaluation Experience
By Prior Appointment Only

Our Sensory Evaluation experience is designed to be fun and educational! In 90 minutes you explore various components found in wine through sensory evaluation. You will learn to identify the various wine components of tannins, acids, sugar and alcohol, and how they interact with food. Designed to refine your palate and help you recognize specific characteristics, you will taste each of the components and learn which part of the palate is sensitive to each component. Following the component lesson, you will then analyze some terrific wines, using the swirl, smell, and sip technique to help you identify these components in our world class wines.

When: 10:00 a.m., Friday, Saturday & Sunday - by prior appointment
Size: Up to 8 people
Cost: $15.00 per Wine Club member, $30.00 for Non-Wine Club members.

Retail Sales

We are open daily from 10:00 AM till 4:30 PM, except for New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Location

We are located on Highway 29 between Oakville and Rutherford, on the east side of the road. Some have said we're hard to find because there is no sign. We've got a black mailbox with our name on it: watch for it! The address is 8300 St. Helena Highway.
