Join us as we head to Sonoma/West Marin area to meet the people (and animals) behind some of America’s most acclaimed cheeses. We’ll meet at the Della Fattoria Bakery-Weber Family Ranch just outside Petaluma, then shuttle to Cowgirl Creamery in Pt. Reyes Station to see their cheese making in action and sample a selection of their cows-milk cheeses.
From there, we’ll head to Barinaga Ranch, where owner/cheesemaker Marcia Barinaga will introduce us to her flock and her delicious limited-production Basque-style sheep-milk cheeses. Then we’re off to explore Bleating Heart, where cheesemakers/owners Seana Doughty and Dave Dalton make sheep-milk cheeses whose names belie how seriously these two take their craft: Fat Bottom Girl, Shepherdista and Ewelicious Blue. And because where there’s good cheese, there’s good bread, we’ll return to Della Fattoria Bakery-Weber Family Ranch. After a tour of the bakery, we'll sit down to a family-style dinner under the Ranch’s oaks, paired with the family’s renowned bread and Cakebread wines. Cuteness alert: bring your camera—there should be plenty of photogenic lambs in the herds this time of year.
