At Home or Away with Cakebread Cellars

Photo Contest for Social Media (April 23 – May 31, 2013)

For years we’ve delighted in hearing from our friends and customers about how Cakebread Cellars has created special memories of places visited, friends made and romances blossomed. As a result, we thought it only appropriate to capture some of those memories through an annual photography contest for wine-loving amateur photographers.

It originated when we started to get postcards and snapshots from our customers telling us when they were enjoying our wine. Some were exotic, some eccentric, some close to home, some from far away, but all were great fun. Every year we still get tons of photos from all over the world, carrying a bottle of Cakebread Cellars on a trip through the high desert or just popping open a bottle at a backyard picnic.

We're still doing our traditional contest, but this year we're also doing a social media one! So here’s your chance to enter our first ever Cakebread Cellars photo contest via Instagram or Twitter. The criteria of the judges seem to evolve each year; so don't feel constrained by the winning pictures from previous years. Good luck, and just follow these details:

bullet
Submit a fun, interesting photo and caption of you taking your bottle of Cakebread Cellars wine someplace or wearing a Cakebread Cellars T-shirt or hat - the more exotic and creative the better!

Criteria of Judges:

Winners will need to submit original negative, or jpg on a cd-rom, and all winning photographs become the property of Cakebread Cellars.

Helpful Suggestions from the Judges:

bullet  Make sure the label is clearly visible.
bullet  The label photographs better on a cloudy day or in the shade.
bullet  The label's white color causes it to reflect, it can be challenging.
bullet  Exotic locations aren't always the best.
bullet  HAVE FUN!
For additional information, call the winery at 707.963.5221 or contact us via email at cellars@cakebread.com. Photos will become the property of Cakebread Cellars.

Flips over Cakebread

Flips Over Cakebread Chardonnay

California bound for graduate school, Heather and her friend Jon traveled cross country in her jam-packed Mini Cooper.  Their journey began in Olney, Maryland, followed by the nostalgic Route 66, and ended in Danville, CA, at the home of Cakebread members Bob & Katy.  Before starting school they were in search of quintessential “California Experiences” and at the top on our rec list was a Cakebread wine tasting.  Jon had never been to a California winery.  Alissa & crew at Cakebread made the tasting extra special!  Jon learned of the upcoming photo contest and had an idea.  Upon returning to our home, Jon, an internationally ranked martial artist, performed an incredible acrobatic maneuver.  He demonstrated this flying kick while almost grabbing the bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay.  No mats, no protective padding…just the hard concrete asphalt underneath.  Heather in her stuffed Mini watched on while sipping wine.  Bob was there with his camera to capture the moment.
